Valentine’s Weekend in Stockholm

When it comes to weekend plans, Miguel and I will always end up doing some relaxation. So, we decided —after back and forth conversation on what to do this Valentine’s day— to spend the weekend in the suburbs of Stockholm.

With only a few weeks left before Miguel goes back to the Philippines, all I want to do is spend my time with him.

This year’s Valentine’s day, Miguel was successful with his surprise (finally. Haha. I always find out he’s going to surprise me because he couldn’t act well). As soon as we got home, he immediately changed to his home clothes, and I thought he was in a hurry because it’s warm in the apartment. Then, he brought the flowers and chocolates he’s been keeping in the apartment and gave it to me. I appreciate his gestures!

The next day, on a Friday afternoon, I left early from work and we went ahead to Skärpang, Täby where we are going to stay for the weekend.

Valentine’s weekend in Stockholm

When I saw the photos of the house, I clicked immediately and checked its availability. One thing that made us book this place is its big hot tub! Located in the suburb of Stockholm, this place definitely has different feels than in the city—in a positive way, of course.

Miguel and I enjoyed our stay, and we had a relaxing yet romantic weekend. Staying there for 3 days and 2 nights is enough, but I wish we stayed longer!

About the Host

Our host, Filippa, is nice and accommodating. Upon booking her house, I told her that my boyfriend and I would love to spend Valentine’s weekend at the house. As soon as we entered the house, she left a note on the table and a few strawberries and chocolates.

On our second day, she sent me a message and asked how we are doing. If there’s anything we need, we can contact her. She also extended our stay for a few hours! The check-out time is supposedly 10:00, but then she said we could check-out by 14:00 so we can sleep in.

About the house/place

Self check-in

You can check-in anytime after 14:00. I was relieved when we found out we can check-in with the lockbox which means the host doesn’t have to wait for our arrival.

I like the accessibility of the house. You can either go to the park or the forest if you want to have a morning jog or just enjoy nature. If you need to buy groceries during your stay, you have two options: go to ICA or Lidl —both are only a few minutes walk from the house.

Also, if you want to go to the mall, you can easily go to Täby Centrum in 20 minutes by bus or 7 minutes by car.

We have no complaints about the cleanliness of the house.

Entertainment and living room

The house has 4 bedrooms—definitely perfect for family, with lots of room for a couple. Two bedrooms have two single beds, one bedroom has one single bed, and, lastly, one bedroom with a double bed. Each room has enough space, and you can definitely sleep comfortably.

The host is nice enough to keep the doors for all bedrooms open. In my experience, some hosts would lock the rest of the bedrooms.

P.S. I forgot to take a photo of the bedroom we used.

Now to my favorite—and the main reason why we booked this place—room in the house! There are two bathrooms available: one with a big hot tub on the first floor, and another one on the second floor (no photo, sorry!)

The house is very cozy which makes it perfect for a staycation. Miguel and I will definitely come back again! Filippa is also nice and made sure that you are comfortable during your stay. I highly recommend this especially when you just want to relax and stay out of the city.
