I can easily forget how beautiful it is here in the Philippines because of Metro Manila. We didn’t really plan for this weekend getaway in Quezon province so we only went to places that we can visit while we’re there. Considering the fact that we have a limited budget too. Given that, we missed the chance to go and visit Borawan and Dampalitan beach. It’s funny because my mom left my car’s gas tank full. We saved so much on our gas!
We left on a Thursday night, after work. We hit the road at 7:30 PM and drove a few hours to Lucena, Quezon. It wasn’t really difficult going to Quezon; we didn’t need to depend on Waze. Thanks to my friend, Tin, for giving us the directions. The trip took around 4 hours. When we arrived at Tin’s house, we fell asleep immediately.
We traveled from Lucena to Lucban for 1 hour only. It was 23 KM away from where we were staying. As a matter of fact, 1 hour travel time wasn’t so bad. No traffic, no anything like in Metro Manila.
7:00 AM – Kamay ni Hesus
We arrived at Kamay ni Hesus. We arrived early so we were able to park our car inside. People started arriving at around 7:30, so make sure to arrive as early as possible.

Gate is open daily: 6 AM to 6 PM
It only took us 20 minutes to reach the top. The walk was tiring but it was worth it. I liked the view from up there, plus the fresh air too.
When more people started staying there, we all decided to leave and move on to the next stop (though we have no idea where to go next).
8:30 AM – Casa del niño Jesus de Lucban
We left Kamay ni Hesus, and we were about to go on a road trip in Lucban. As we drive along, we passed by this church, Casa del niño Jesus de Lucban, and stayed there for almost an hour. I wanted to go somewhere else but I can’t connect to the internet – I wanted to search for other places that people should visit in Lucban. Unfortunately, I didn’t find anything so we went straight to Kamayan sa Palaisdaan.
9:30 AM – Kamayan sa Palaisdaan
As far as I remember, there are two Kamayan sa Palaisdaan; one on each side of the road. The restaurant is located on the main road.
We had our brunch here in the number one tourist spot in Quezon. Tin recommended it to us – she said that we should definitely eat there. So we did!
I like the privacy that we have. Each group of customers has their own kubo (nipa hut). Additionally, we can talk and laugh out loud without worrying about others. Not to mention, there were few people during that time. Maybe we’re too early. Lol.
Anyway, we were seated and attended right away. I could order shrimps or prawns right away without looking at the menu! Take me to any seafood restaurant, I’ll order the same thing.
1 hour is enough to go around the place. I took several photos while waiting, but the photos below are my favorites.
The food has arrived! The loooooong wait was definitely worth it! The food isn’t costly, and each order has a big serving. You can check out the menu here if you are getting interested.
P.S. I’m really enjoying the food. Therefore, no food photos.
Time to drive back to Lucena. I am sooooo sleepy! I just wanted to go back as soon as we finished eating. It took us a while to get back because we all can’t remember which way we should go to. Lol.
7:00 PM – Sea Isle Bar, Grill & Restaurant
Seafood. AGAIN. I really love this day. This bar has a lot of customers, so it is recommended that you make a reservation first before dining there. You may call them at (042)-717-3621 or 09478950627, or fill out the reservation form here.
We drove for an hour to the beach.
8:30 AM – Puting Buhangin & Kwebang Lampas
6:30 PM – Carnival Park
I don’t usually go to carnival parks because of the crowd. The truth is, I can’t really stand crowded places. However, I wanted to enjoy my stay in Quezon so I tried going there.
It was my first time to try the different games at the park. My most favorite one is the color game. I lost a lot of money, unfortunately.
Chill night! Who says you can go home without trying their lambanog? We are scheduled to go home the next morning. But, before anything else, we tried the bubblegum lambanog. I have no idea what the original lambanog tastes like. Nevertheless, the bubblegum flavor is so good and I would recommend it to you, especially to the girls!
10:15 AM – Drive back to Manila
Do you want to know what we had for breakfast? Obviously, it’s shrimps and crabs! Just by writing what I ate during my entire stay in Quezon, it makes me crave for one!
We only used waze on our way back to Manila. It only took us 3 hours. Lunch and stopovers are not included.
- Toll gate: Php207 (Filinvest exist – to/from, Sto. Tomas exit – on our way back)
- Parking fee at Kamay ni Hesus: Php30
- Brunch at Kamayan sa Palaisdaan: Php500
- Dinner at Sea Isle: Php600 (including alcohol)
- Puting Buhangin & Kwebang Lampas: Php250 (+ Php450 for the optional cottage and table)
Note: the expenses listed above did not include our expenses for our snacks and pasalubongs. In addition to that, we didn’t spend anything on the gas so we definitely saved a lot.
Date of visit: May 26-29, 2016
I know this is a lengthy post, but thank you for reading till the end! I hope you’ll visit Quezon soon, and let me know about the other places that you’ve visited.
